-The Pont de l'Alma road tunnel

Fleeing the paparazzi, Pirncess Diana and her hired driver crahsed into the thirteenth pillar of the Pont de l"Alma tunnel. She died after many attempts at resuscitation including internal cardiac massage. Several years later Diana's death was ruled gross neglegent driving by the paparazzi and the chauffeur, Henri Paul.

After her divorce from Prince Charles, Diana became largely involved in charities. She continued with this work from when she was a princess and was expected to visit the sick and comfort them. This created an interest in landmines and the effects they had on people she visited. Many of the victim were children and she fought hard to ban them. She was also was one of the first Celebrities to be photographed touching a person with AIDS, helping to chang public opinion of people effected by the disease. After her death the ban on landmines was passed and her campaign won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997.
